October 2025 Newsletter Thinking Ahead

Thinking Ahead

You have probably thought about your financial situation and made provision to protect your loved one’s future with insurances, and/or a will. You probably have similar contingencies in place for your house and car, in case the worst happened.

One thing we are not so good at is thinking ahead in case something happened to our health, be it an accident, or some sudden medical situation that might affect our ability to think or communicate. Once it has happened, it is often left to our family to argue over what treatment or other options you might prefer. We can have influence and a strong say in that, so that we are treated as we would like, so our beliefs are respected, and so that we are not adding to the stress of family members trying to second guess us.

And also we may have some other wishes about our 'end of life', our funeral wishes, organ donation, and so on, items not necessarily covered by a will.

My great friend, Monique Ballinger is a trained End of Life Doula and has some great advice to help you and your family consider and prepare for what may come, so the below has been kindly provided by her:

Planning for the End of Life Brings Peace of Mind

If you were travelling overseas, you’d plan ahead — right?

Being organised for End of Life can be just the same. You don’t have to wait until you’re unwell to start. In fact, putting your affairs in order now brings peace of mind — knowing you’ve done right by your loved ones, left clear guidance for them to follow, and eased the stress that often comes with loss by taking out the guesswork.

Hi, I’m Monique from Enlight – All Things End of Life.

I’m an End of Life (EOL) Doula and Educator, and I’m on a mission to help desensitise conversations around death and dying. My goal is to spread awareness that death has no age, and preparedness offers peace.

I’m currently offering support to help you complete your Advance Care Plan (ACP) — a legal document presented in book form that serves as your voice when you can no longer speak for yourself. It outlines your wishes in situations such as an accident or medical event like a stroke, ensuring your loved ones know exactly what you would have wanted.

Once your ACP is complete, I’ll guide you through creating your End of Life Manual — a personalised resource to help you think through the practical and emotional details you may not have considered.

 Special Offer

Friends and Clients of Pax Bodywork – Rhys can access a discounted rate of $100 per person (normally $150) until the end of November.

Each session runs for around one hour, allowing time for questions and discussion.
Remote sessions are available — I’ll simply arrange to send your ACP book in advance.
